Based in Melbourne, Paul is an abstract photo realist who uses charcoal as a medium to create powerful monochromatic imagery. The creative process begins when Paul using charcoal turns his white surface into black and then brings his vision to life by slowly erasing into the black background to bring forth the subjects of his artwork. It's like curving out a horse from a large block of marble; accept that it is 2 dimensional. His subjects and themes include abstract animal portraits and urban scenery.
